Siberian SRI of Peat, Narym State Plant Selection Station (Kolpashevo town), Tomsk State Agricultural Pilot Station (Bogashevo village), which defined the key directions of work for the new institute – SRE Siberian Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture and Peat of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, including advanced processing of peat, creation of ecologically safe peat-based products for agriculture, development and implementation into practice of agriculture technologies in extreme climatic conditions of Siberia, selection of fiber flax, oat, winter rye, perennial grasses, potato, beans. New varieties of agricultural plants are adapted to growing not only in local climate conditions but also in those of many other regions of Russia.
During the last five years, the institute has been developing dynamically and has successfully passed the process of establishment. Its staff harmoniously integrated into the scientific community of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, agricultural and scientific and educational complex of Tomsk Oblast. According to the results of performance evaluation of scientific activity in 2010, the institute was assigned to the first, highest category. In 2010, the institute was awarded an international Diploma and Medal of the American-Russian business union (ARBU) “Innovations for investments to the future” for scientific research results which received the patent “Preventive method for cow liver diseases.”
“The main purpose of agricultural science is to serve people,” says the Director of Siberian SRI of Agriculture and Peat, Nikolay Belousov confidently. “It should be aimed at the result, contribute to the development of agro-industrial complex, provide for food supply security of the country, social welfare of the population”.
